School Visit and Island Visit

On Friday, we went back to the kid’s school (they start Aug 22) to buy their school uniforms.  Although the kids were extremely unhappy to learn that they would have to wear uniforms to school here in Mexico, they’ve become more used to the idea over the past few weeks… we’ll see how it actually goes once school starts.  Here are a few photos as we walked around the campus during this visit…

We spent today (Saturday) on the island of Cozumel….just a 35 minute ferry ride from Playa…12 miles away.

This was our first visit to the island, and we spent most of the day at one of the ‘beach clubs’ just south of the city of San Miguel. We played at the beach and jumped off / slid down a bunch of inflatable water slides.  Yes, even Joaquin and I did it.  I’m now even more aware of how wimpy my arms are after trying to climb on these things!

This island is 34 miles long and 11 miles wide. Cozumel is part of the second largest barrier reef system in the world.  Next time we visit, we plan to snorkel 🙂

The ferry rides back and forth were some of the best parts of the day with live music performed on both rides 🙂  Even though all the passengers were sandy and tired getting on the 2nd to last ferry of the day back to Playa…once the music started, everyone perked up and were singing, clapping…some even dancing…it was a lot of fun 🙂  Here’s a link to a clip of the music we heard on the way back home…
